Petrol in a diesel car, diesel in a petrol car

OOPS!

Wrong fuel in car ? Did you put Petrol into a diesel car or put diesel into a petrol car? Call our Fuel Fix service, we are on hand 24/7 to get you going.

You’ll need to call us immediately. When we get there we will already have ascertained when you noticed the mistake with the fuel. Was it the minute you put it into the tank or was it when the car started to splutter and chuck having driven off.

This part is really crucial information:

If you notice your mistake straight away ‘DO NOT’ turn the key in the ignition, this will only send diesel or petrol racing around the lines and into the engine. Since you have not turned the key we can flush the vehicles system and replace it on the spot and everything will be fine.

If you have driven off we may still be able to help however this is based on how far you've travelled and how long the wrong fuel in the engine has been circulating. Assuming you have noticed the mistake  quickly after driving away we may still be able to flush the system and again replace it on the spot.

Top Tip

Our best advice is to always pay extra attention at the pumps!

FYI

You should never really let your vehicles fuel gage run into the red because over time dirt particles accumulate and as the fuel reaches minimum levels these particles can be sucked through the fuel lines and into the engine causing problems.

Its also widely accepted that you should never really fill your tank to the brim as doing so places more pressure on the fuel pump. When fuel pumps fail, they are a hefty little bill to replace.

Keeping your tank half full is best practise.
